Kitchen Heartland is a friendly, comfy, laid back restaurant offering Japanese and Japanese-style western cuisine. It is across the SSK bypass road from Kujukushima Pearl Sea Resort. Park your car next to the restaurant. It’s the park’s No 5 parking lot and free of charge for 3 hours.
This restaurant is famous and super popular. In fact, they were in charge of serving bentos for the film staff when Kids on the Slope (Sakamichi no Apollon ) was filmed in Sasebo. Their signature dish is Toruko rice with black Angus beef! The tender and juicy beef steak is placed on top of the pilaf style rice. Salad, chicken nanban, and pasta are also added. It’s absolutely delicious!!
You can also order chicken nanban (fried chicken with sweet and sour sauce ), hamburg steak, a katsu version of Toruko rice, lemon steak, and more! All meals will come with a delicious cup of soup and side dishes and are very reasonable priced.
English menus as well as English speakers are not available. But the images on their menu and friendly staff will help you place an order anyway.

【What is Turkish Rice?】
Toruko Rice means Turkish Rice, but it’s not from Turkey. It is a popular local dish from Nagasaki. Pilaf and spaghetti are placed onto one plate along with a pork cutlet.
トルコライスはトルコのごはんという意味ですが、トルコから来た料理ではありません。長崎発祥の人気の地元料理です。ピラフとスパゲッティがとんかつと一緒に、１つのお皿に乗っています。
