Hi, all of you Japanese aficionados! Today, we are going to look back at our videos “Let’s Speak Sasebo-ben (dialect)”again. This time, we picked four of the funniest phrases that you can easily remember.
今回は、2017年12月からお届けしていた佐世保弁動画の総集編 パート2をお届けします。佐世保弁って、面白い音やリズムのフレーズが多いんです！そんな中から、一度聞いたら忘れない4つのフレーズを厳選しました！
１ とっとっと＆すーすーす | Tot-tot-tot & Soo-soo-soo
Tot-tot-tot and soo-soo-soo, two funny sounds don’t seem to make sense, but really make sense in Sasebo-ben! Tot-tot-tot means “they’re reserved” . We can use the phrase for seats, tickets, hotel rooms, and any reservations. Soo-soo-soo means “I feel chilly”, due to air conditioning or cold winds.
全く意味をなさないかのようなリズム音！ れっきとした佐世保弁です。“とっとっと”は“予約や席などを取ってある”の意味。”すーすーす”は、風や空調のせいで冷やっとする時に使います。
Just raise the pitch at the end of these two phrases when askin a question. 語尾を上げるだけで、疑問形に！

2. “つ” って何？ | What is “tsu”?
The second one is “tsu”. We only use one word to say, “scab” . Let’s check out this video !
佐世保弁では“かさぶた”のことを、なんと、たった1文字で表します！

We also love “Aitaaaaassu!!” 「あいたーっす」も好き！
People in Sasebo put emotion into their language. 最後の「す」に感情がこもってるよね。
3 「がられる」 | be yelled at.
“Garareru” is another example that you will notice their emotion from its sound. Kids will say “Sensei ni Garareta!! ” , which means “I was yelled at by my teacher!!” Garareru (present) , Garareta (past), Garareyotta (would or used to ).
”がられる“は“怒鳴られる（怒られる）”の意味。こっぴどく叱られたショックがにじみ出た表現ですね。

Extra (おまけ） ビール瓶のごたるヘビ編 | Snake like a beer bottle
Last one is “Gotaru” meaning “like” . In Japanese tradition, we tell ghost stories in summer. So, we added a little taste of to our video last summer.
最後にこちらもどうぞ！ “ごたる”は“～のような”の意味です。暑い夏に撮影したちょっと怖い（？）バージョン。
